EJP Trombones

"Never look at the trombones. . . it only encourages them."  Richard Strauss

Georgia Humphrey is a Mainiac and a willing participant in a musical and extended family (aka “The Tribe”). A middle child survivor, she continues to act out and grand stand for attention.    Georgia  finally… graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in Music Composition because she could not decide what her major instrument was. She is presently working on  “Fugue for Kazoo and Bagpipes”.  A dismal attempt at teaching led Georgia to her current vocation as the Manager of the Community Television Station in Gorham, Maine. She is a dedicated member of the 195th Army National Guard Band stationed in Bangor and freelances on bass, trombone, guitar and vocals. She resides with her pound puppy friends, Chance and Oreo, on a family homestead in Gray.

Anita-Ann Jerosch (bass trombone) received a B.M. in Jazz and Contemporary Music with a concentration in performance from the University of Maine at Augusta and a M.M. in trombone performance from the University of Maine. She has previously studied at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music with Hal Janks; bass trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, David Taylor; freelance artist, Mark Manduca, Don Stratton and Scott Vaillancourt. In 1985, she took second prize in the Long Island University Concerto Competition on trombone and third prize in the same competition on viola. Anita then toured the U.S. with the musicals “Hello Dolly”, “Cabaret” and “Sweeney Todd” and musical revues for performers Carol Channing and Rita Moreno. She toured the U.S., Europe, and Japan for five years with the Kit McClure Band. Anita performed at the 1989 and 1993 Democratic National Conventions and at President Clinton’s Inaugural Balls in 1993 and 1997. While in NYC, she performed with the big bands Diva, Illinois Jacquet Band, Charlie Percip Superman Band, and the Tom Pierson Orchestra. More recently she has backed up Don McClean, Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers and Clem DeRosa, Marvin Stamm, and the Manhattan Transfer at their performances in Maine. Presently, Anita is bass trombonist with the Bangor Symphony, Maine Chamber Orchestra, Colby Symphony, and substitute with the Portland Symphony Orchestra.

A native of Aroostook County , Anita is the band director at the University of Maine at Farmington . She is also an adjunct instructor at Bowdoin College and Bates College . Anita lives in Bowdoinham with her husband, two young sons and an assortment of pets.

Sue Brennan grew up in Augusta and took up the trombone, not because of an initial love of the instrument but because the band director recognized her long arms.   She majored in Pre-Med and Biology at UMO and was the top Entomology student.   This has given her the ability to identify any insect that hits the windshield (a source of awe and amusement for her children's friends).   Currently, Sue is an Exercise Physiology Instructor for Lifeline at USM and also works for her husband, Lenny, a local dentist.   Her two college kids are fine musicians themselves, owed in part to the fact that they were paid to practice in their younger years.   The $2.50 a week was well spent!  Sue also volunteers in science classes for area schools and despite the fact that she plays the trombone, the Anatomy classes at Deering  High School fondly refer to her as the "Organ Lady".

Meredith Duke, is EJP's  trombone section leader, the band director for the Boothbay Region School District, and the principal trombonist with the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra.  A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, Meredith has performed extensively through the Southern Maine area.  She was a member of the Mainely Brass Quintet, has performed with the Maine Chamber Ensemble, and the Lincoln Arts Festival Band.   Now living in Boothbay Harbor, she is willing to travel to play with like-minded musicians.
